For most Bloggers and website owners there comes a time where if you are serious about what you are doing you need to purchase your own web hosting and we can assist you through this process.
Firstly you will need your own domain name, you can get cheap domain names here.
Once you have registered your domain name you need to get adequate hosting for your requirements, set up your website and then point the domain name to your new hosting.
Getting the Right Hosting Package
For website owners starting out, unless you suspect your site is going to attract massive traffic straight out of launch a 1 gig traffic plan should be more than sufficient and allow you to grow your site to a reasonable size before a package upgrade is required.
Diskspace normally starts at around 50MB for a smallish site, if you are intending having lots of images on your site you will need at least 500MB and possibly more further down the track. (Our hosting packages start at 500MB )
Blogs like Wordpress use MySQL and PHP, however some sites require ASP and SQL server, its really important that you know exactly what you need before choosing a hosting package. If you are in any doubt why don’t you ask us over at the mmmtalk forums and we can find out for you.

Transferring your Files
Getting your website onto your new site is normally a matter of FTP transferring the files. This means using a program like WS_FTP which you can trial for free by downloading here.
If you are setting up Wordpress for the first time, you may also need to first set up a database as well, and a database user. If you get hosting through Gristech.com we actually help you through this or even just do it for you so that you are not left bewildered and left struggling along on your own.
Setting up email
Once you have your hosting set up, your site rolled out and operational you can also set up email accounts at your domain, I recommend just to set up the account names that you require and forward them to your existing email address. There are ways however that you can use outlook to receive the email, or of course webmail. Once again we can assist with this.
